I'm not supportive of hydrogen cars. Here's why...

Hydrogen is expensive and extremely energy intensive to produce. It requires a tremendous amount of electricity to manufacture hydrogen. Granted, much of that electricity at hydrogen refineries is generated through hydroelectric or solar power.
The beauty is that hydrogen is potential energy that is storable and transportable. Something that doesn't really work otherwise in a closed battery system.
Furthermore, most hydrogen cars employ a fuel cell (not combusting the hydrogen in an engine) which is basically generating electricity to power the vehicle's electric motor. Why not just charge the car via battery?
But I see electric cars like the Tesla to make much more sense than a hydrogen car. The problem is that car companies have invested so much money into hydrogen cars that they're probably going to force consumers to buy them by bringing them to market.
I also drove the AUDI A7 H-Tron and although it was novel, it was really just an electric car.
Benefits of hydrogen...
1. Unlimited range, just refuel and go.
2. Stored energy that is moveable and transportable.
3. No battery memory, nor battery degredation.
Disadvantages of hydrogen...
1. Expensive, energy intensive, and cost prohibitive to produce.
2. Private companies have direct involvement in the pricing. Whereas electricity is more closely regulated by the government by utility companies or public utilities.
3. Cars are designed around the safety requirements of a large cylindrical tank.
