Thanks for posting these Jeff!! I think I have earlier indicated to you that a plain, standard, early - or even '80 - 911 is a dream for me. Hoping to replace the ol' SLK one day. You simply gotta love the lines of that 904 - very sleek looking machine! C...

...and as you mentioned, nice to see all the old colors. You rarely see the yellow anymore although my area has so many vintage Porsches. That 904 is pretty sweet.

a brilliant day must have been had by all.

some beautiful cars, two models i've never heard of the 904 and 914. the 914 just happens to be the perfect porsche for me, if only my numbers come up tonight :) i can dream, but on a more realistic footing, my son, being a mechanic, has been asked by a f...

may be a lot cheaper than you think. Also decent to keep running as most of them are 4 cyl. and fairly uncomplicated mechanically. Sorry, cannot offer any sound advice to a 24 year old on selecting a 911 other than LEARN HOW TO DRIVE FIRST!!!! These old l...

Great report

I do remember r this classics well. I had the pleasure of a 928s in 81 and the 930 in 82. I kept the 930 in mint condition with 11000 km until 2000 we a friend of mine sent it to car heaven. Frame damage to the car nothing to him. For me it was pretty sad...

lots of beautiful cars!

Looks like a lot of fun, happy motoring out there! -MW

The engine of the Carrera GTS was the stuff of legend . . .

 By: Dr No : June 22nd, 2012-03:54
. . . with dual cams per side, hemispherical combustion chamber heads, roller bearing crankshaft, and dry sump lubrication. These were literally race cars for the street. Great outing, Jeff. Wish I was there!

Legend, indeed...

The Fuhrmann four cam is certainly in a class of it's own. And there are only a few true experts left that can properly rebuild and tune them. They're not an engine for the average shade-tree mechanic...but I'd still love to have one in my 356. Emil

wonderful pics and text, Dr Strong, thank you very much!

like the AP Royal Oak, it's taken me decades to come around to appreciating Porsches. your report has only helped to strengthen that appreciation, thanks! TM
