My first step into vintage category :)

I've been swinging between the CPCP monopoussoir and the ref. 96 for the past few months.
Then finally this came into my sight, a double labeled 96 retailed by Shreve, Crump & Low.
It is a rather normal piece, the dial has been slightly cleaned: since the dial says Geneve instead of Genève, it is a violent way of telling wether the dial is refinished(or are there examples without the è? please share and correct me if I am wrong); the case has been silghtly polished and with some minor scratches; the movement is not perfect either: with double geneva seal, but a bit dirty?(I don't know what's the best word to describe).
Over all it is not a NOS, nor a perfectly well preserved piece. In terms of condition, it is just a normal, common piece that has been worn by its pre-owner(s).
So why did I still get this one? Well first of all due to its condition the price is not sky high like the ones you would see in auctions. Secondly, the retailer,
SC&L; a dealer originally from Boston back in 1796. As a Bostonian, this is surly something special to me. Also on the case back, it has engraving says "My love: On our engagement Jan. 31,53 Betty" Therefore I assume this is a wedding gift from a beloved wife to a lucky, happy husband.
From a condition perspective, yes there are issues and this is not the perfect one. But the rest of the signatures on the dial are clear, the dealer's signature on the dial uses a different font contrast from the PP sign, making it interesting to look at. The hallmark on the case is crisp. The movement which has a double geneva seal is like a cherry on the top for me.
Without further ado, I would like to show you the first piece I got for this year the Calatrava ref. 96 retailed by Shreve, Crump & Low.
Hope you like the photos, please feel free to comment, share your knowledge on vintage pps and 96s.
Have a nice day.
Best,
