Happy 60 year Birthday dear Mustang!!

In coincidence with the previous post by Captain Scarlet I wish to share a few shots of the local celebration which was held yesterday Saturday 20th in our principal International Car Racing Track in Buenos Aires: Autodromo Juan y Oscar Galvez (named after two legendary local race drivers).

This event is coincidental with similar ones in different Countries around the world and it was organized by the Argentine Mustang Club and sponsored by the Ford Company.

We have many many Mustang fans here but there are not many examples as it wasn’t imported officially by Ford previously to the last say ten years. Additionally it has always been a very expensive car here due to import taxes.

Anyway I was surprised (and Organizers as well) by the answer to the call: near 60 cars representing the different generations of this famous Pony car: 1964, 65, 66 till the  2023 generation including the new E Mustang.

I was invited by my son owner of a 1966 Hard Top coupe which he restored some 20 years ago after a five years plus painstaking (and costly) work to finish the car in the exact original configuration and paint color.

I enjoyed so much the event with my son and very young grandson representing three generations of Mustang love.

Here some shots of the event:

Our Pony: a 1966 Hard Top coupe completely restored up to the original color paint:

Some oldies from the three first years sharing same body.

Bullit’s car: a Highland green model ‘67! (Yes, I know… film car was a 1968 model!! 😉)

A 1970 Mustang similar to Art’s High School teacher!

All participants’ cars had the chance of making a three leaps run through the main track!! That was a great experience which my grandson celebrated so much!

The first generation and the latest together!

A beautiful 68 convertible:

It was a marvelous experience for me as a fan of Mustang for 60 years and specially to share it with my son and grandson in this unforgettable event.

Hope you have enjoyed these shots!!
Abel

PS: forgot to share the watches I had on my wrist yesterday!
Here they are:

. . . especially Boss 429 Mustangs were comparatively scarce. Besides my teacher's orange Boss 429 I might've seen two others in the '70s; Boss 302s, maybe a few score. The other make in Ford's stable, Mercury, produced contemporary versions of the Boss 3...

Ahh!! Thanks a lot for sharing those interesting details dear Art!

I didn’t knew them. To view a Mustang here was a rare happening in the 1960’s , 70’s or 80’s. And I guess I can count with one hand fingers the Cougars which arrived here. We always had many restrictions and high taxes to import cars and other goods which...

Phenomenal stuff.

Great watches you are wearing, and great vehicles. I read the other day that the woman who bought the first Mustang here in the US, No. 1 in production, still owns it!

Hello Greg! Thank you so much for your kind comments. I´m glad you liked the review of this event and the watches I took on my wrist to assist.

Yes, it seems that Gail Wise who bought her light blue convertible on April 14th, 1964 (that is two days before the official launch by Ford Motors of the new model at the NY World Fair) still owns it and she says she won´t sell it. She paid about 3.400 us...

Thank you so much for your so kind comments Salman! Appreciate so much. I´m glad you like both the event and our car color which is the original color by the way as it was yellow when we bought it and ...
