So had I, until I...

..bumped into a pack of Vedettes at a local French Car day recently.

I am not too familiar with the whole Simca/Ford/Brazil thing and it seems pretty convoluted, but I think it goes something like this:

Ford had a factory near Paris, which they sold to Simca in the mid-50s, this included the Ford Vedette which came with a flat-head V8. Later, Simca moved the tooling for the Vedette to their operations in Brazil. Simca was then bought by Chrysler in the late 50s. The Brazilian operations completely updated the flathead into what became the Emi-Sul: a slightly bigger capacity (153ci from 143ci of the flathead) OHV operation, with as you mentioned, Aluminium hemi-heads. This was produced until the end of the 60s.

I also believe Simca made bigger version of the flathead 239ci? for trucks.

All the joints and axles are all polished. Look at the differential. It's all polished. I love nice brakes. I can just look at the Wilwood brakes all day.

In case you're wondering about the watch . . .
