The analogy is very appropriate. It will come to expectation and individual satisfaction.
Many times, we are more forgiving because of what we put in, where we are. In a 2 to 3 star restaurant, the consumer expectation will be much higher, but sometimes we paid just for the reputation and namesake.
For the striving brands, sometimes I like to give those a chance because I admire their drive, inspiration to do better.
For those high end brands, many times due to limited volume, their experience vs quality may not be directly correlated. Many Aston's hand-stitched leather are not perfect and there are many minor hiccups in electronics.
With more electronics in Automobiles, I see more rough roads ahead, just look at recall notices and volumes nowadays.
I agree Porsche seems like an all-round winner nowadays.
